Regard Extrême
A French project led by composer Fabien Nicault, Regard Extrême has developed since the early 1990s a body of work positioned between dark neoclassical, cinematic ambient and martial-industrial influences. Born as a solo endeavour within the European post‑industrial scene, Regard Extrême first established itself through instrumental compositions structured like small orchestral pieces, where synthetic strings, choirs and percussion shape melancholic and tense atmospheres. Through studio recordings and contributions to various compilations, the project refined an aesthetic focused on historical themes, collective memory and a form of abstract spirituality, often supported by vocal samples and repetitive motifs. The collaboration with Les Joyaux de la Princesse around the White Rose movement marked an important milestone, opening the project to more conceptual and narrative work. Still active, Fabien Nicault continues with Regard Extrême an introspective approach to neoclassical and ambient music, favouring slow constructions, contrasted dynamics and an almost cinematic relationship to time and sonic space.
