Vesuve

The instrumental trio from Montpellier, Vesuve, develops a post-rock with post-metal overtones where melodic layers stretch over heavier build-ups and contrasting dynamics. Formed in January 2020 around Pandore (bass), Cyril (guitar) and Julien (drums), Vesuve first established itself with a self-recorded two-track demo, then played dates across France, notably as the opening act for Toundra at two concerts on the Madrid group's 2022 European tour. In summer 2022, Vesuve set about recording its first concept album, 'Pline', released in February 2023 on vinyl, CD and digitally. The record unfolds, track by track, the last voyage of Pliny the Elder during the eruption of Vesuvius in 79, working through successive atmospheres that range from the rise of menace to a return to a detached calm over a destroyed city. In May 2025, Vesuve extends this narrative approach with the EP 'L'Horizon des événements', structured around a two-part title that imagines an escape to another universe and affirms the trio's orientation toward instrumental post-rock that is both melodic and massive.
