Purpendicular

Driven by singer Robby Thomas Walsh's project, Purpendicular established itself as an international hard rock band formed in Europe around a structured tribute to Deep Purple. The band initially developed a repertoire focused on the British group's classics, with an emphasis on the 1970s, cultivating an organic rock sound dominated by keyboards, overdriven guitars and a vocal approach faithful to the conventions of classic hard rock. This professional tribute foundation served as the starting point for their own creative work, leading to the releases This Is The Thing #1 (2015), Venus To Volcanus (2017) and Human Mechanic (2022), where the band mixes explicit references to Deep Purple with more contemporary original compositions. Regularly active on European stages, Purpendicular performs in clubs, halls and festivals, and occasionally invites Ian Paice, Deep Purple’s longtime drummer, to join them on stage or in recording sessions, further anchoring the band in the aesthetic of early British hard rock.
