Mortòri

Mortòri is the solo project of Swiss musician and producer Aris Bassetti, rooted in the canton of Ticino. It extends the path he began with Peter Kernel and Camilla Sparksss, refocusing it on intimate, territory‑based songwriting. Launched in 2023, Mortòri rests on lyrics sung in the Ticinese dialect, Bassetti's mother tongue, which he uses to probe the darker and more ambiguous zones of love — between desire, loss and obsession. Mortòri's music moves between alternative pop, rock echoes and electronic textures, emphasising atmospheres and contrasts rather than a strict song format; this places the project firmly in an experimental register while retaining a melodic dimension. In studio and on stage, Mortòri questions the place of a local idiom in a globalised musical landscape by setting the intimacy of the dialect against contemporary sonic references from varied horizons. Present on Swiss stages such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, Mortòri performs in modular stage configurations depending on context and collaborations, thus continuing Aris Bassetti's work as a producer while offering a distinct space to reaffirm the Ticinese dialect within a contemporary artistic framework.
