Öxxö Xööx

Led in France by musician Laurent Lunoir, Öxxö Xööx has developed since the early 2010s a musical universe positioned between doom metal, avant‑garde metal and gothic and liturgical music. Öxxö Xööx’s compositions favour slow tempos, massive atmospheres and highly detailed writing, blending saturated guitars, baroque‑inspired keyboards, dark electronic textures and choral arrangements with vocals that alternate low voices, lyrical registers and collective passages. The project was established on record with Rëvëürt in 2011 and Nämïdäë in 2015, two albums released by the French label Apathia Records that progressively define Öxxö Xööx’s distinctive sonic vocabulary. The lyrics, often sung in a language constructed by Lunoir, address spiritual and apocalyptic themes and contribute to the project’s visual and conceptual identity. On stage Öxxö Xööx appears in an expanded lineup adapted to venues and festivals, allowing the dense, ritualised dimension of the music to be conveyed live, in connection with the European experimental metal scene and other projects in which Laurent Lunoir is involved.
