Kanaku y El Tigre
Kanaku y El Tigre was born in Lima in the late 2000s among musicians from the Peruvian independent scene, initially as a duo before expanding into a larger group. They developed a blend of indie folk, experimental pop and Latin American sonorities, where acoustic guitars, percussion and electronic soundscapes intersect with motifs drawn from Andean music and urban popular song. Their first album, 'Caracoles' (2010), established this aesthetic of intimate atmospheres, choral vocals and detailed sonic textures. With 'Quema Quema Quema' (2015) Kanaku y El Tigre pushed arrangements further, incorporated stronger rhythms and opened their universe to collaborations with other Lima musicians, reinforcing the project's collective character. On stage they adapt their pieces to variable lineups, favouring an organic approach that leaves room for variations and light improvisation while keeping melody at the heart of their writing.
