Melissa Weikart
Split between France and the United States, Melissa Weikart is developing a solo project at the crossroads of pop, jazz, folk and experimentation, centered on the dialogue between voice and piano. Trained first in a classical framework and then at the New England Conservatory in Boston, where she further deepened improvisation, Melissa Weikart builds a flexible writing style, made up of oblique melodies, tonal ruptures and pared-back arrangements. Her universe advances through subtle shifts, between intimate song, jazz-derived harmonies and freer forms. Alongside her solo work, Melissa Weikart is also part of the Béatrice Melissa duo, another space for vocal and compositional exploration. Her trajectory is set in scenes where contemporary song, improvised music and indie pop intersect. In terms of discography, Melissa Weikart released Easy in 2018, Then the Weather Changed in 2021, and Out of the Dark in 2024. Her career has also been marked by the Nancy Jazz Pulsations springboard, which she won in 2022, and by the instrumentalist prize at the La Défense National Jazz Competition in 2023.
