Kemit

Born in Gabon and based in France, Kemit develops a project at the crossroads of afrobeat, soul, chanson and hip‑hop, with songwriting that gives central importance to the lyrics, phrasing and rhythm. A singer‑songwriter as well as a poet and writer, Kemit draws on both the classics of African music and French chanson and hip‑hop culture, which gives his tracks a sound that is at once melodic, spoken and percussive. His texts, often threaded with humanist and voluntarist themes, contribute to an artistic identity he sums up as “Guerrier Bantu.” In his discography Kemit released Azania in 2019, Diluvienne in 2020 and Tessiture in 2023, followed by the EP Émeraude in 2024. In 2025 Kemit continues this trajectory with the EP Jade, aimed at an afrobeat enriched with touches of soul and hip‑hop.
