The DSM IV
Formed in London, The DSM IV evolves at the crossroads of post-punk, art rock and a dark pop traversed by abrasive guitars, taut rhythms and a marked taste for spoken word as well as for more direct melodies. The band sits within a British scene where punk heritage, New Wave tension and contemporary writing intersect, with tracks that blend social observations, irony and nocturnal atmospheres. The DSM IV emerged at the end of the 2010s and developed its identity through a series of singles and releases spread on streaming platforms, before publishing the album New Age Paranoia, whose theme explores media fear, violence staged for show, narcissistic culture and the omnipresence of social networks. This thematic approach is reflected in nerve-wracking but structured music, where angular guitars, persistent basslines and tonal variations build a set that is both frontal and changing. The DSM IV has also made a name for itself on stage in the circuit of independent venues and clubs, carrying a repertoire that prioritizes urgency, contrast and a form of theatricality without abandoning a rock anchor.
