Atalhos

Born in the city of Birigui in the interior of São Paulo state, Brazil, Atalhos has developed since the early 2010s an independent rock sound tinged with dream pop and shoegaze, marked by slow tempos, reverb‑drenched guitars and often introspective Portuguese vocals. The project is built around a core of songwriters who gradually moved their activity to São Paulo, where Atalhos became part of the network of labels, venues and festivals on Brazil’s alternative scene. The first cycle of records established a writing focused on contemplative atmospheres, continued in 2017 with the album A Tentação do Fracasso, which increased the use of synthetic textures and more electronic rhythms while retaining an indie rock foundation. With A Toda Parte, released in 2022, Atalhos refined a format combining enveloping guitars, repetitive motifs and clear melodies, at the intersection of indie pop, melodic post‑punk and a certain slowcore legacy. On stage, Atalhos translates these songs into sets built on gradual climaxes and a group dynamic centered on layering sounds rather than individual virtuosity.
