Agrotóxico

Born in the Cidade Ademar neighborhood, in the southern zone of São Paulo, Agrotóxico has evolved since 1993 in a direct, fast and blunt hardcore punk register, anchored in the Brazilian punk tradition while keeping a strong link with the European scene. The band, formed as a quartet, builds its songs around nervous guitars, tight rhythms and shared vocals, with lyrics focused on political issues, social violence, anarchism and self-management. After the demos Sindicato do Crime in 1995 and Decadência in 1996, Agrotóxico released Caos 1998 in 1998, then Estado de Guerra Civil in 2001, before expanding its reach outside Brazil thanks to several European tours begun in the early 2000s. Its trajectory also includes splits with Rasta Knast in 2003, Flicts in 2004 and Rawside in 2009, which place Agrotóxico in an international punk network marked by exchanges between DIY scenes. The discography also includes Libertação in 2007, the live documentary Pelos Escombros in 2009, XX in 2013, then Era do Caos in 2023, a re-recording of its first album on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Caos 1998. Over the years, Agrotóxico has played in many Brazilian cities and undertaken several tours in Europe, in a continuity faithful to the hardcore punk aesthetics and the band's independent operation.
