Marie Oppert
Born into a family of musicians, Marie Oppert (b. 1997) developed early on a career that straddles singing, theatre and musical theatre, studying piano and clarinet and singing in the Maîtrise of the Conservatoire de Paris. The French singer and actress appeared on stage as a child and was noticed at the Théâtre du Châtelet in The Sound of Music, then in Street Scene and notably in Les Parapluies de Cherbourg in 2014, in which she played Geneviève. Her repertoire moves between Anglo‑Saxon musical theatre, French musical theatre and lyric‑inspired singing, with interpretations that emphasize diction, vocal line and stagecraft. After earning her baccalauréat she continued her training in New York at Marymount Manhattan College on a Fulbright scholarship, then took roles on stages such as the Opéra de Reims, the Théâtre Marigny, the Opéra national du Rhin and the Zénith d’Orléans in productions including Sweeney Todd, Peau d’âne, Un violon sur le toit, My Fair Lady and West Side Story. Nominated for the 2021 Victoires de la musique classique in the revelation artiste lyrique category, she joined the Comédie‑Française in 2022, appearing notably in Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, La Vie de Galilée, Les Serge and L’Opéra de quat’sous. Her discography includes the 2020 release Enchantée.
