Veps

Veps took shape in Oslo in 2018 when four teenage girls who knew each other from middle school decided to extend shared artistic affinities by forming a quartet. Bringing together Laura Dodson, Helena Mariero Olasveengen, June Urholt and Maja Beitrusten Berge, Veps crafts a sound between indie rock, indie pop and alt-pop, featuring bright guitars, a nervous rhythm section, understated keyboards and tightly worked vocal harmonies. The band emerged in 2021 with the singles “Ecstasy” and “Girl on TV”, followed the same year by the EP Open the Door on Kanine Records. Shortly after, Veps appeared on several European showcase stages, notably The Great Escape, Reeperbahn Festival, Vill Vill Vest and by:Larm, helping to establish them on the Nordic indie scene. After “His Brother”, “Ballerina (Norah)” and “UFO”, Veps released their debut album Oslo Park in 2022, a record that blends adolescent tension, immediate melodies and a dreamier texture. The second album, Dedicated To:, was released in 2024 on Miktam Records/Universal Music, featuring more assured songwriting while remaining true to the balance between band energy and melodic pop.
