Big Boi
Born in Savannah, Georgia, in 1975 and raised early on in Atlanta, Antwan André Patton, known as Big Boi, established himself in American hip‑hop as one half of the duo Outkast, formed in the early 1990s with André 3000. Rooted in the Southern rap scene and a member of the Dungeon Family collective, Big Boi helped develop with Outkast a blend of Southern hip hop, funk and soul across a series of albums released between 1994 and the mid‑2000s, a period marked by numerous awards including Grammy Awards. Alongside his work with the group, he launched a solo career with Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty (2010), followed by Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors (2012) and Boomiverse (2017), where he continued a technically skilled, storytelling‑driven rap supported by productions often influenced by funk and electronic music. Big Boi has also pursued collaborative projects — notably the trio Big Grams with Phantogram and the album Big Sleepover with singer Sleepy Brown in 2021 — and appears regularly on the international stage and in the studio, while periodically undertaking acting roles in film and television.
