Tazu

Based in Chicago after growing up in Seattle, Julian Paez, performing under the name Tazu, develops a project at the crossroads of bass music, dubstep and a more experimental electronic music geared toward the club. His trajectory sits within a recent American scene where short formats and style hybrids occupy a central place, with tracks that alternate between marked rhythmic impacts, dark textures and more atmospheric passages. Tazu also claims a Japanese and American cultural background that feeds a mobility-friendly aesthetic, between frontline energy and dreamier moods. Active since the early 2020s, Tazu distributes his music on streaming platforms and tours on stage as a supporting act for artists from the new generation of bass and electronic trap, among which ISOxo, YDG or LYNY. Not limiting himself to a single register, Tazu builds an universe adapted as much to club contexts as to more introspective listening, working on nerve-racking productions, bass-heavy, but often traversed by a search for contrast and space.
