Taburete
Centered on the voice of Guillermo “Willy” Bárcenas and the guitar of Antón Carreño, the Madrid group Taburete made its mark from the mid-2010s on a scene that blends pop, Spanish songcraft and Latin American influences. Formed in Madrid, Taburete began as an independent act, gaining attention in the capital’s venues before gradually expanding its audience across Spain and into several Latin American countries. Their first album, Tres tequilas (2015), established a mix of acoustic pop, rumba and ballads; Doctor Charas (2016) emphasized the project’s festive and narrative side. With Madame Ayahuasca (2018), Taburete introduced more elaborate arrangements and explicit references to Mexican and South American musical traditions, while keeping a direct songwriting style focused on travel, friendship and romantic relationships. The albums Matadero 5 (2020) and La broma infinita (2021) mark a shift toward a more pop-rock sound, where electric guitars and faster tempos coexist with slower songs. On stage, Taburete operates as an expanded band, incorporating a rhythm section and keyboards, allowing the project to move between urban pop concerts, the atmosphere of a Spanish peña and the energy of a rock group.
