A Thousand Horses

Formed in Nashville in 2010, A Thousand Horses initially brought together Michael Hobby and Bill Satcher, who had begun writing together in South Carolina, and were later joined by Graham DeLoach from Savannah and Zach Brown from Atlanta; since Brown's departure in 2023, A Thousand Horses has continued as a trio. The band developed a sound at the crossroads of country rock, southern rock and American rock shaped by blues and soul, characterized by thick guitars, straightforward choruses and a strong live-oriented approach. A first EP, A Thousand Horses, was released in 2010, before the band gained greater visibility in the mid-2010s with the single "Smoke", followed by the album Southernality in 2015. That track, played on country radio, marked a turning point in their career and positioned A Thousand Horses in a space where country songwriting meets the energy of a rock band. The project evolved with the EP Bridges in 2017 and the albums Broken Heartland (2022) and The Outside (2024), issued on Highway Sound Records. Across U.S. tours and lineup changes, A Thousand Horses has retained an identity focused on collective playing, twin guitars and a clear mix of southern roots and contemporary country.
