Bernardino Femminielli

Based in Paris after a career that developed between Canada and Montréal’s independent scene, Bernardino Femminielli is a Canadian artist of Salvadoran origin. His work initially took shape in abrasive electronic and noise, before shifting toward more narrative French-language songs, informed by synth-pop, spoken word, cold wave and references to 1970s and 1980s music. He has also led parallel projects such as Femminielli Noir with Jesse Osborne-Lanthier, Araignée with Dominic Vanchesteing and Wasted Widow with Francesco De Gallo, while cofounding the Montreal label Los Discos Enfantasmes. His discography traces this evolution: Las Enamoradas (2009), La Montaña Del Capricornio (2010), Shanghai, C’est Beau (2013), Plaisirs Américains (2016), L’Exil (Part 0) (2020), Dans Les Yeux D’Iris (2021) and Opéra Bouffe (2024). On stage he performs solo or in a compact formation, in a register where language, theatrical ambiguity and electronic atmospheres play a central role.
