Gabriel Auguste
Gabriel Auguste, based in France, has developed a career spanning indie rock, folk, chamber pop and electronic experimentation. Initially active with Wall of Death, a Paris-based band formed in the early 2010s, he participated in an adventure marked by abrasive psychedelic rock and tours across Europe as well as the United States, on stages shared notably with The Black Angels, The Brian Jonestown Massacre or Hanni El Khatib. In his solo work, he evolves this more direct base into a more inward writing, where songs rely on precise arrangements, analog textures, and production work closely tied to the songwriting. His solo discography includes Kiss the Sun (2018) and Charm (2023), two records that cross contemporary folk, experimental pop and subdued electronic music in an often melodic format, without breaking with a craftsman-like approach to sound. Gabriel Auguste has also collaborated with several musicians and singers from the French scene, among them Étienne Jaumet, Olivia Merilahti, Alain Chamfort and Dominique A. As a co-founder of Woodland Records, Gabriel Auguste also places his activities within an independent framework where recording, production and publishing directly extend his work as a songwriter.
