NSG
Formed in Hackney in east London, NSG brings together six childhood friends — OGD, Kruddz, Mojo, Dope, Papii Abz and Mxjib — around a sound that blends British hip-hop, grime, afroswing and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. The collective belongs to a London scene where rap intersects with sung melodies, smooth hooks and group-oriented writing based on alternating voices. NSG began in 2013 with the track “Whine and Kotch” and quickly refined this formula between urban energy, Nigerian and Ghanaian influences and a strong sense of cadence. After collaborating with J Hus in 2015, NSG released the project Grown Up in 2017, before expanding their audience with several singles, including “Yo Darlin’” with Geko and “Options” with Tion Wayne in 2018. The collective continued with the mixtape Roots in 2020, which also features “OT Bop” and “Trust Issues,” followed by the EP Headliner in 2021. In 2023 NSG released their debut studio album, Area Boyz, extending an aesthetic that links London rap, afropop and club formats without breaking with the group’s collective identity.
