Nazar

Born in Belgium in 1993, Nazar has built his path between Brussels, Luanda and Manchester, with a trajectory marked by Angolan history and by travels between Europe and Angola during his adolescence. He develops an electronic music rooted in Angolan kuduro while pushing it toward a rougher, tenser and more frontal form, characterized by fast rhythms, clipped percussions and dark atmospheres linked to the memory of the Angolan civil war. Active since the late 2010s, Nazar emerged with the EP Enclave in 2018 on Hyperdub, the London label associated with experimental electronic scenes, and refined this direction on Guerrilla in 2020, an album that more clearly articulates family narrative, political violence and dancefloor energy. His music moves between club, bass music and avant‑garde electronics without limiting itself to a purely utilitarian dance format. Nazar has also taken part in Hyperdub‑related events in London, situating his work within an international network while remaining strongly connected to Angolan history. His discography also includes Demilitarize, released in 2025.
