Kiinjo

Since 2022 Kiinjo has continued the trajectory of Canadian producer Grandtheft, developed between Montreal and Los Angeles at a time when the bloghaus scene brought electro, house and blog culture into dialogue. Under his previous name Grandtheft moved through various club aesthetics — first with straightforward disco-house tracks, then with productions leaning more toward bass music and club-focused electronic styles on a range of independent labels. Along the way he shared stages with artists such as DJ AM, Justice, MSTRKRFT and Boys Noize, markers that place him within a generation shaped by intersections of rap, electro and dance music. With Kiinjo, he refocuses his work on sample-based house built around loops and groove, blending vocal fragments, funk textures and supple rhythms. The Kiinjo project draws as much from disco-house as from the legacy of the French touch and producers like Armand Van Helden or Masters at Work, sometimes reusing elements from his own past productions. Kiinjo thus represents continuity rather than rupture, with a warmer, more playful and dance-oriented songwriting approach.
