Jean-Paul Groove

Born in Brussels around Denis Baeten and Nils Hilhorst, Jean-Paul Groove belongs to an electronic lineage with a frontal energy, between bass music, electro-punk and rave textures designed for live performance. The project emerged in the early 2020s and first drew attention with the EP Violent Party Music, which lays the foundations for a mechanical, nervous and very physical sound, built for the stage as much as for the club. Over more than a hundred concerts in Belgium, France, the Netherlands and as far as Canada, Jean-Paul Groove refines a direct live identity, marked by rhythmic impact and a constant tension between electronic pulsation and human presence. The arrival of bassist Matteo Mazzù later broadens the formula and accompanies an evolution of the project, previously centered on instrumental compositions. With Digital Therapy, the first album announced after several years of activity, Jean-Paul Groove densifies his writing and opens his music more to collaboration, while keeping a taste for incisive structures, massive basses and abrasive build-ups. Between club culture, DIY spirit and a band format, Jean-Paul Groove thus develops a dancing, rough and no-nonsense electronic music.
