Billy Liar

Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Billy Liar has since the mid-2000s developed a repertoire situated between acoustic punk, folk and road songwriting, with a direct writing style and formats that swing between solo and full-band setups depending on the tours. Initially active across several EPs, including Live at Granton Pierhouse in 2006, It Starts Here in 2009, All I’ve Got in 2013 and The Ghosts of Punk Rock in 2013, Billy Liar gradually builds his live trajectory across the United Kingdom, continental Europe, the United States and Australia. His path also takes in festivals such as Rebellion or Fest, in a circuit linked to independent punk and its intersections with folk music. After a run of short releases and splits, Billy Liar releases the album Some Legacy in 2019, followed by Crisis Actor in 2023. Signed for a time to Red Scare Industries, then released by Pirates Press Records, Billy Liar maintains an approach rooted in a melodic punk tradition performed with live energy, where acoustic guitars, tightly crafted refrains and a folk sensibility remain at the heart of the project.
