Dax
Born in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, to a Nigerian family and raised in Ottawa, Dax initially focused on college basketball in the United States before turning his poetry into rap beginning in 2016. His trajectory was built online, with tracks released on SoundCloud followed by the mixtape 2Pac Reincarnation Volume 2: As Told By Dax in 2018 and the EP It's Different Now later that year. Dax works in a range between hip hop, contemporary R&B, hardcore rap, country rap and Christian hip hop, with very direct writing, personal and social themes, and frequent use of singing in his choruses. His discography shows a gradual move from technically demonstrative rap toward more introspective formats, notably I'll Say It for You (2020), Pain Paints Paintings (2021), What Is Life? (2023) and From a Man's Perspective (2024). He has also collaborated with Hopsin, Tech N9ne, Trippie Redd, Nasty C, Elle King and Darius Rucker, reflecting an openness in his repertoire to rap–country crossovers. On stage, Dax alternates between North American hip‑hop tours, opening slots and headline dates in a format centered on lyrics and vocal impact.
