Ricardo Baez

Originally from Florence, Ricardo Baez built his path in a richly mixed musical environment, between his father’s blues and jazz records and the 1980s pop cassettes of his Venezuelan mother, used in her dance classes. This domestic upbringing fostered in him an instinctive approach to blending styles, which he later translated into electronic music and club culture. In 2010 he launched Tropical Animals, a weekly Florentine event that has accompanied the local scene’s evolution over time and served as his experimental ground. His sets follow a flexible, narrative logic—designed for the dancefloor but rarely confined to a single register—with a marked taste for unexpected transitions, melodic color, and constant rhythmic tension. As a DJ and producer, Ricardo Baez has developed a personal, fluid, and emotional aesthetic in which an eclectic range of references always serves the rhythm and the club’s dynamics.
