Craig Richards
Born in 1966 in Bournemouth, England, Craig Richards developed a career connected to the British electronic scene, rooted in tech house and with a mixing approach that also makes room for minimal house and darker textures. Trained in illustration at London’s Saint Martins School of Art, Richards concurrently worked as a photographer and painter, a background that sheds light on the visual and constructed dimension of his projects. His trajectory became established in the 1990s and 2000s with Tyrant, a venture shared with Lee Burridge and, early on, Sasha, which firmly placed him in London’s and the international club circuits. Craig Richards’s discography notably includes Tyrant with Lee Burridge (2000), Fabric 01 (2001), Tyrant No Shoes, No Cake (2002), Fabric 15: Tyrant (2004) and The Two Headed Monster with Transparent Sound (2006). In 2011 he released Fabric 58: Craig Richards presents The Nothing Special, an extension of a universe where selections favor slow transitions, flexible rhythms and contrasts between tension and sparseness. He also collaborated with Howie B on the project A Short Run, at the crossroads of music, poetry and image.
