Vígljós

Founded in Basel in 2022, Vígljós evolves in a black metal that relies on the heritage of the Norwegian second wave while opening it up to more atmospheric textures. The Swiss quartet blends cold guitars, sustained rhythms, keyboards, dark layers and melodic motifs that at times bring its writing closer to hypnotic rock and ritual forms. Vígljós thus builds a sound in which the roughness of 1990s black metal coexists with a more immersive approach, without tipping into symphonic overemphasis. The project appeared on the European underground scene in the early 2020s and is part of a current that reconnects the codes of the genre through a nocturnal aesthetic, slow in places, more direct in others. Available information places Vígljós clearly at the crossroads of atmospheric black metal and an occult vein carried by the work of atmospheres. The band has gradually toured on stage in Switzerland and beyond, with increased visibility thanks to live appearances, conceived as compact and enveloping experiences.
