Baptiste Herbin
Born in Chartres in 1987 and raised in Eure-et-Loir in an artist family, Baptiste Herbin first approached music through classical piano before turning to the saxophone at age 11. He trained notably with Julien Lourau, Jean-Charles Richard and Riccardo Del Fra at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, and early on joined the Paris jazz scene, developing a style rooted in modern jazz, nourished by hard bop, melodic lyricism and precise improvisational work. His 2010 residency at the Duc des Lombards marked a significant step and led to Brother Stoon in 2012, his first album as a leader, recorded with André Ceccarelli, Jean Toussaint, Pierre de Bethmann and Sylvain Romano. He subsequently released Interférences (2015), Dreams and Connections (2018), Vista Chinesa (2020), Symmetric (2023) and Django (2024). His career also includes collaborations with Aldo Romano, Keith Brown and Essiet Okon Essiet, as well as a 2014 tour with Charles Aznavour. In 2018 Baptiste Herbin received the Django-Reinhardt prize from the Académie du Jazz.
