Dawn of Ouroboros

Around guitarist Tony Thomas, who is also active in Botanist and Cailleach Calling, and vocalist Chelsea Murphy, Dawn of Ouroboros took shape in California’s Bay Area in the late 2010s. Dawn of Ouroboros develops an extreme metal that blends atmospheric black metal and death metal with a progressive approach marked by contrasts, tension buildups and more melodic lulls. Chelsea Murphy’s vocals alternate between rough attacks and airier lines, while the compositions led by Tony Thomas unfold in movements, with particular attention to atmospheres and shifts in density. Dawn of Ouroboros’s lyrics draw on nature, with a strong interest in the marine world and bioluminescence, which fuels a dark, fluid and organic aesthetic. Situated within the American West Coast extreme metal scene, Dawn of Ouroboros occupies a space where the intensity of black and death metal dialogues with a search for texture and depth.
