Steven Page

Born in 1970 in Scarborough, a suburb of Toronto, Canada, Steven Page rose to prominence in the late 1980s as the co‑founder, singer, and guitarist of the pop‑rock band Barenaked Ladies, where he played a central role in writing and arrangements until his departure in 2009. With Barenaked Ladies, Page developed a sonic world that blends alternative pop, folk rock, and songwriting that is both narrative and attentive to everyday detail—an approach he later carried into his solo work. In 2005, he released an initial project under the name The Vanity Project, followed by the album “Page One” in 2010, marking the start of a more regular solo discography. Page then explored a palette in which pop songwriting opened up to more orchestral colors and a strong influence from 1960s and 1970s pop, particularly on “Heal Thyself Pt. I: Instinct” (2016), “Discipline: Heal Thyself, Pt. II” (2018), and “Excelsior” (2022). In parallel, Page collaborated with ensembles such as the Art of Time Ensemble, leading him to revisit a repertoire ranging from folk to rock, and to establish himself as a singer‑songwriter moving between the pop stage, chamber music, and more intimate formats.
