Lesoir

Anchored in Dutch Limburg, Lesoir has since the late 2000s been developing a progressive rock with art-rock contours, carried by the voices of Maartje Meessen and Eleën Bartholomeus, the guitars of Ingo Dassen, the bass of Ingo Jetten and the drums of Bob Van Heumen. Formed in 2009 around Maartje Meessen and Ingo Dassen, the group progressively moves away from a repertoire of covers to build an original writing that blends melodic tension, airy moods and more rock-leaning energies, in an aesthetic that crosses modern progressive, post-rock and alternative rock. After a self-titled debut album in 2011, Lesoir followed with Transience in 2013, Luctor and Emergo in 2014, Latitude in 2017, then Mosaic in 2020, a concept album, before Push Back The Horizon in 2023. Through these records, Lesoir refines a formula made of long but readable tracks, carefully crafted arrangements and a central vocal work, often built from Dassen's compositions reworked collectively in the studio. The band's trajectory sits within the European progressive scene, notably with a 2019 tour alongside Riverside, while Mosaic and Push Back The Horizon albums were produced by John Cornfield and Paul Reeve.
