Sheléa
Steeped in soul, jazz and gospel, Sheléa (Sheléa Frazier) is from Phoenix, Arizona, where she developed early on as a singer, pianist and singer‑songwriter before settling in Los Angeles. In the early 2010s Sheléa attracted attention with the ballad “Love Fell on Me,” which was used in the film “Jumping the Broom” (2011), and then through a widely shared online tribute video to Whitney Houston that opened the door to stage collaborations with musicians such as Stevie Wonder, often in contexts associated with Quincy Jones. Her debut album “Love Fell on Me” was released in 2013 and blends contemporary R&B, pop and gospel around original compositions and a few covers, confirming the project’s strong vocal focus. In 2019 Sheléa shifted her focus with “Pretty World: Through the Eyes of Alan and Marilyn Bergman,” an album released on Concord that reinterprets the lyricist duo’s repertoire in a more pronounced jazz setting, between orchestrated ballads and song-like formats. At the same time she has increased concerts with orchestras, televised and institutional performances, and a steady practice of posting standards online, while expanding into acting by portraying Dorinda Clark‑Cole in the TV movie “The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel,” broadcast in 2020.
