Camille O'Sullivan
Born in London to an Irish father and a French mother and raised in Passage West in County Cork, Camille O'Sullivan initially pursued visual arts and architecture in Ireland before devoting herself to the stage in the early 2000s. Her music blends contemporary cabaret, baroque pop, chanson and alternative rock, featuring theatrical vocals and a repertoire largely made up of reinterpretations of Jacques Brel, Nick Cave, David Bowie, Tom Waits, Édith Piaf, Radiohead, Sinéad O’Connor and Shane MacGowan. After performing in Dublin clubs and theatres, she took part in La Clique at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2004 and played a role in Stephen Frears' Mrs Henderson Presents in 2005. She subsequently developed work straddling concert, musical theatre and cabaret—notably appearing in Sweeney Todd at the Gate Theatre, Dublin in 2007—while regularly performing across the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Her discography includes A Little Yearning (2002), the live albums La Fille Du Cirque (2005), Plays Brel Live (2005) and Live at the Olympia (2008), followed by Changeling (2012) and Camille Sings Cave Live (2019).
