Uña Y Carne
Led by Spanish director, composer and producer Carlos Salado and singer Antonio Clavería, Uña y Carne grew out of the soundtrack to the neorealist film “Criando Ratas,” whose rumbas served as the starting point for the project in 2021. The duo occupies a rumba-rock aesthetic strongly influenced by flamenco and urban music, blending rumbera guitars, touches of Latin pop and rap-adjacent rhythms to support narrative lyrics focused on everyday life in working-class neighborhoods. Uña y Carne’s songs address head-on issues such as urban poverty, juvenile delinquency and addictions, adopting a descriptive approach that privileges testimony and social observation. On stage, the group’s work often incorporates projected images and spoken interventions to extend this documentary dimension and link the songs to the realities they evoke. The duo’s music videos feature residents directly connected to the depicted situations rather than professional actors, maintaining continuity with the project’s cinematic origins. They also develop this reflection through events held at universities and cultural centers, where music, film and social work intersect around their tracks and collaborations, notably with artists from the Spanish rumba, flamenco and rap scenes.
