Austin TV

Born in Mexico City in the early 2000s, Austin TV developed an instrumental rock at the crossroads of post‑rock, math rock, indie rock and a more direct energy inherited from punk. Austin TV's tracks rest on melodic guitars, marked rhythmic shifts and vocal‑free writing that favors progression, tension and contrasts. The band emerged on the Mexican independent scene with La Última Noche del Mundo (2003) and continued that trajectory with Fontana Bella (2007) and Caballeros del Albedrío (2011), albums that broadened its instrumental vocabulary and sense of storytelling. Austin TV has performed masked since its beginnings, linked to the formula «Tu cara no importa, importas tú», which emphasizes collective identity over individual image. After a long hiatus in the 2010s, Austin TV returned with Rizoma (2023), a record that extends its instrumental approach while tightening certain structures. Over the course of its career, Austin TV has played clubs, alternative stages and festivals in Mexico and abroad, sharing bills with acts such as Mogwai and Yo La Tengo.
