Christian Prommer
Born in Munich in 1969, Christian Prommer has developed since the 1990s a career at the crossroads of jazz and electronic music as a producer, composer, DJ, drummer and percussionist. His work early on blended acoustic drums with house, techno and more atmospheric textures, adopting an approach tied as much to improvisation as to composition. Christian Prommer appears in several projects on the German and European scenes, notably Fauna Flash with Roland Appel, the Trüby Trio with Rainer Trüby, and later Voom:Voom alongside Peter Kruder. Under the name Christian Prommer’s Drumlesson he transposes house and techno classics into a jazz ensemble format — a concept that neatly sums up his way of bringing club culture into dialogue with instrumental playing. Over the course of his career he has also collaborated with artists such as Carl Craig, Tony Allen, Bugge Wesseltoft, Joe Sample, Til Brönner and Klaus Doldinger, and worked with labels including Compost, Sonar Kollektiv, !K7 and Diynamic. His activity also extends to composing for the screen, with music written for the series Call My Agent Berlin and Funeral for a Dog.
