Hinako Omori
Born in Yokohama and based in London since childhood, Hinako Omori creates ambient music at the intersection of minimalism, contemporary composition and experimental pop, where piano, voice and electronic textures move together in the same slow, precise flow. Trained in Music and Sound Recording at the University of Surrey, she initially worked in various areas of the music industry before accompanying artists such as James Bay, Ed O’Brien, Kae Tempest and KT Tunstall in session work, and later contributing to projects associated with Floating Points. Her solo path began to take shape with the single “Voyage” and the EP Auraelia in 2019, and she gained wider visibility in 2020 with a performance for WOMAD at Home, informed by field recordings of nature and an immersive approach to sound. Hinako Omori subsequently released the album A Journey... in 2022 and Stillness, Softness... in 2023, two records that extend a language of repetitive motifs, velvety soundscapes and contemplative writing. On stage she appears both at festivals and in more cross-disciplinary settings, with appearances at the Southbank Centre, The Great Escape, with the BBC Concert Orchestra and at Le Guess Who?.
