Antoine Boyer

French guitarist Antoine Boyer first trained in gypsy jazz with Mandino Reinhardt and Francis-Alfred Moerman, with whom he recorded his first album in 2009. His roots lie in the Django Reinhardt tradition, but his work has expanded to include classical guitar and flamenco. Also a pupil of Gérard Abiton, Antoine Boyer has developed a highly articulated acoustic approach, attentive to phrasing, rhythm and the tonal colours of the guitar. In 2015 he won the Montigny competition and was named Révélation Guitare Classique 2016 — two milestones that accompanied his movement across stages, from gypsy jazz festivals to events devoted to the guitar. His duo with flamenco guitarist Samuelito received the European Guitar Award in 2017 and extended this crossover between aesthetics, producing music that blends manouche swing, classical writing and flamenco accents without opposing them. Antoine Boyer has also shared the stage with Philip Catherine and Stochelo Rosenberg. Both as a soloist and in duo, he has thus fashioned a career at the crossroads of several acoustic traditions.
