Coupdekat
Born in Luton and linked to Leighton Buzzard in England, Katherine Reilly develops under the name Coupdekat a solo project situated between alt-pop, hyperpop, indie pop and light electronic, with songs that often address relationships, the internet and everyday social life. After playing in several bands, including Sunseed and then Electric Blue, Coupdekat launched her personal trajectory in the early 2020s, after a spell in Paris that also marks the origin of her stage name. Her first singles, Ur Only (2021), Love Online (2021), Little Tescos (2021) and Lost in Translation (2021), establish a direct writing style and short tracks, blending pop choruses, digital textures and indie sensibility. Coupdekat subsequently released the EP Imaginary Girls in 2022, followed by For Entertainment Purposes Only in 2023, in a more nerve-wracking form where guitar, rhythms inspired by alternative pop and dance accents cross. Tracks like Superglue, Babyteef and It’s Not You extend this evolution toward a sound that is more upfront, without breaking from a DIY approach. Parallel to her discography, Coupdekat is also one of the co-founders of Loud LDN with Maisi, a network born in London to bring together non-binary musicians and artists from the local scene. We have seen her on club and festival dates, notably as the opening act for Piri & Tommy and at Leeds Festival in 2023.
