Matilda Cole

Born in Sussex and having spent time in Los Angeles and Camden Town before settling in Brighton, Matilda Cole develops an indie-pop songwriting style that is both direct and introspective—rooted in folk and rock on her early tracks and later evolving toward dreamier, denser textures. She began releasing music as a teenager and was discovered at 16 by a London manager after uploading a cover to SoundCloud. She signed in 2020 and launched the next phase of her career with the single “The Clouds”, followed by “Be There”, “Stay Awake”, “Afternoon Haze” and a cover of The Weeknd’s “The Hills”. Her first EP, Milk Teeth, appeared in 2021, followed by The High Dive in 2022, featuring songs focused on relationships, adolescence and emotional imbalances. A founding member of the Loud LDN collective, Matilda is also part of the current London indie scene. In 2024 she released the singles “Big Mouth”, “Mortal” and “Shiny Things” ahead of the EP Pomegranate, where her songwriting retains a pop foundation while incorporating more dream-pop and shoegaze touches. Alongside music, Matilda Cole also worked as an actress in several films during the 2010s.
