Rachel Croft
Born in Nottingham in 1994, Rachel Croft grew up in York before settling in London, a path that also threads through her writing, between folk introspection, the tension of alternative rock and a singer-songwriter approach carried by guitar, piano and a voice whose register is often dark. Rachel Croft began by playing on the street and at open mics during her studies at the University of York, then turned to her own compositions from 2014. Her music sits in a song format with understated arrangements, an acoustic sensibility and an intensity that leans more electric depending on the track, with an aesthetic that blends alternative rock, melancholic folk and indie pop. Active on the British scene, Rachel Croft performs both solo and in intimate-room contexts, which corresponds to a repertoire centered on the lyrics, vocal dynamics and a direct presence. Over the course of her career, Rachel Croft's tracks have also been used on screen, notably on Netflix, BBC Two and CMT, a sign of a reach beyond the concert frame while remaining rooted in personal writing.
