Miss Kaninna

Born in Australia and having spent time on Bruny Island in Tasmania before settling in Melbourne, Miss Kaninna develops a frontal rap that crosses hip-hop, soul, R&B and spoken word in a direct, socially and personally rooted writing. An Aboriginal artist with Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Kalkadoon and Yirandhali heritages, she initially came from musical theatre and appeared in 2022 on The Sapphires Australian tour, after beginnings as a backing singer in community groups. Miss Kaninna presented her first solo compositions the same year at the Dark Mofo festival, then began her discography in 2023 with the singles "Blak Britney" and "Pinnacle Bitch," where a percussion-driven flow, soulful refrains and an aesthetic blending club energy, thick bass and assertive vocal statements already emerge. In 2024, "Push Up" accompanies the release of the EP Kaninna, published September 2024, the first format to gather her taste for dry rhythms, R&B textures and a vocal presence that is both sung and rapped. Miss Kaninna has since established herself in the contemporary Australian scene between independent circuits, festivals and hip-hop stages, with a career still recent but already structured by live performance and a clear musical identity.
