Annotations Of An Autopsy

Born in Lowestoft, Suffolk, Annotations Of An Autopsy formed in 2006 in the wake of the British deathcore wave, blending death metal, hardcore and touches of grindcore. After a first demo the same year, the band drew attention with the EP Welcome to Sludge City in 2007, then honed a heavier sound on Before the Throne of Infection in 2008, a record that established them on the European metal circuit and took them to stages like Download Festival and the Summer Slaughter Tour in the UK. Annotations Of An Autopsy followed with II: The Reign of Darkness in 2010, where the riffs hardened further in a more death-metal aesthetic, without abandoning the choppy structures and broken tempos of deathcore. Despite several lineup changes, the band remained active through the EP Dark Days in 2011 before announcing a hiatus in 2013. After occasional comebacks, Annotations Of An Autopsy officially resumed with the EP World of Sludge in 2019 and then relaunched activity in 2025. Throughout their career, Annotations Of An Autopsy has maintained an identity centered on abrasive, compact and frontal music built around thick guitars, cavernous vocals and a heavily staccato rhythm section.
