Basstard

Active since the early 2000s in Berlin, Basstard, also credited as MC Basstard, is part of the independent German rap scene with a strong grounding in horrorcore. His early projects circulated in Berlin’s underground before a more structured framework emerged with the album “Horrorclown” in 2004, followed by “Meister der Zerstörung” in 2006 and “Apokalypse Jetzt” in 2008, which established Basstard as a regular presence in dark German-language rap. In 2010, “Blutzeuge” continued this aesthetic by mixing violent narratives, fantastical imagery and cinematic references over often slow, oppressive productions, sitting between hardcore rap and metal-adjacent atmospheres. MC Basstard’s intentionally hoarse, emphatic flow plays on repetition and intensity, with lyrics that oscillate between extreme fiction, neighborhood chronicle and deliberate provocation. Highly active in collaborations within the horrorcore nexus and on various underground rap compilations, Basstard remains associated with mid-sized venues, clubs and specialized fan networks, pursuing a trajectory in which visual and narrative identity occupy as central a place as the purely musical dimension.
