Lisa Pin-Up

Born Lisa Chilcott in East London, Lisa Pin-Up rose to prominence at the end of the 1990s on the British hard house scene, in a register focused on fast rhythms, razor-sharp lines, sampled vocals and a very direct club energy. Initially active as a DJ, she simultaneously developed production work related to the English hard house and hard dance circuits, with releases on Tidy Trax, Nukleuz, Rock Hard Recordings and Ministry of Sound. Lisa Pin-Up participated in 1999 in the Tidy Girls project alongside Lisa Lashes, Rachel Auburn and Anne Savage, a landmark of the era for the visibility of women in this facet of electronic music. In the early 2000s, Lisa Pin-Up followed with singles, remixes and mix compilations, in a style blending rave tension, percussion-driven construction and short choruses designed for the dancefloor. Her discography includes notably Biggest Baddest Mutha in 2003, as well as several compilations and mixed albums signed solo or in collaboration, among them Hard House Euphoria with the Tidy Boys in 2001. Present on club line-ups and specialist events across the UK, Lisa Pin-Up remains associated with a period when English hard house occupied a central place in London nights and in the network of major hard dance parties.
