Mathilde Fernandez

Active on the francophone independent scene, Mathilde Fernandez has developed a universe where experimental pop, dark electronics and lyrical influences inherited from classical singing intersect. First noticed with a series of self-produced tracks and videos in the second half of the 2010s, she gradually established a theatrical vocal aesthetic, playing with operatic registers, language shifts and writing that blends mystical imagery with everyday detail. Her compositions, often built around dense synthetic pads and pronounced rhythms, explore a form of dramatic pop that flirts with cold wave, synth-pop and textures close to club music. Alongside her solo work, Mathilde Fernandez developed the duo ascendant vierge with producer Paul Seul, a project more directly aimed at European electronic stages, while continuing to perform solo in venues and festivals in France, Belgium and beyond. Between concerts, collaborations with electronic-music producers and careful visual work, Mathilde Fernandez is consolidating a singular position at the crossroads of francophone song and experimental aesthetics.
