Cook Strummer

Originally from Belgium, Cook Strummer has been developing a project rooted in Berlin’s electronic scene for over twelve years, performing both live and in DJ sets. His music sits between indie dance, bass-driven house and rawer electro textures, with a focus on balancing rhythms, melodies and vocals. Cook Strummer blends an organic sensitivity with direct electronic production, in a club-oriented format that leans more toward sung elements than purely instrumental ones. Over the course of his career he has played venues associated with Berlin’s underground—such as Sisyphos, Kater Blau and the Kantine at Berghain—while also performing outside Germany. His itinerancy has taken him to a variety of cities and scenes, from Barcelona to Amsterdam, Vienna to Istanbul, as well as Bali and Thailand. This trajectory places Cook Strummer in a hybrid electronic register, at the crossroads of the dancefloor, vocal songwriting and grooves that sometimes bear darker edges.
