Calibro 35

Formed in Milan in 2007, Calibro 35 initially established itself as an instrumental collective emerging from the Italian independent scene, featuring Enrico Gabrielli, Massimo Martellotta, Fabio Rondanini, Luca Cavina and producer Tommaso Colliva. Calibro 35 develops a sound steeped in the soundtracks of Italian genre cinema from the 1960s and 1970s, blending dry funk, jazz, rock, psychedelia and film music in a highly rhythmic approach where keyboards, guitar and brass converse with a taut drum kit. After their eponymous debut album in 2008, which was initially focused on reinterpretations, their repertoire increasingly shifted toward original compositions with Ritornano quelli di... In parallel, Calibro 35 regularly composes for visual projects — from Said to the series Blanca and Diabolik - Chi sei? — while touring Europe and the United States. Several of their tracks have also been sampled in American rap, notably by Jay‑Z and Dr. Dre.
