THELMA

Based in Belfast, THELMA develops a DJ and producer practice situated between old-school techno, Detroit electro and contemporary rave energy. Early in her career the track “TRACK ID” spread her name beyond the local scene, followed by a run of dates in Belfast, first appearances elsewhere in Europe and three tours of Australia, where a significant portion of her audience is located. THELMA’s tracks and sets then gained increased exposure in the club circuit, earning support from Laurent Garnier, VTSS, KETTAMA, I Hate Models, Skin On Skin and Partiboi69. Her appearances at Creamfields and subsequent debuts at Terminal V, Fabric London and Glasgow’s Sub Club accompanied this progression. With a first EP released on Steel City Dance Discs, THELMA has refined an aesthetic built on the intersection of techno and electro, in a tense, confrontational register shaped by incisive rhythms, dry basslines and arrangements designed for the dancefloor.
